IMDB rating: 6.90 Plot: A fable of innocence: thirteen-year-old Aviva Victor wants to be a ‘mom’. She does all she can to make this happen, and comes very close to succeeding, but in the end her plan is thwarted by her sensible parents. So she runs away, still determined to get pregnant one way or another, but instead finds herself lost in another world, a less sensible one, perhaps, but one pregnant itself with all sorts of strange possibility. She takes a road trip from the suburbs of New Jersey, through Ohio to the plains of Kansas and back. Like so many trips, this one is round-trip, and it’s hard to say in the end if she can ever be quite the same again, or if she can ever be anything but the same again. |

Why do some of the women fail to realize they would not exist without men?
I see that women here bring up the argument that men would not exist without women. I hate to break it you, but the same goes for the other way around.
I also have read some dumb posts by some foolish women that men are going extinct which of course is not true and was proven when a study was done that showed the y chromosome repairs itself through the use of it’s palindromes. Even if the y chromosome were to go away, it would take millions of years anyway and science would change the course of nature anyway.
Right now, anyone can make an argument that in the future females or males are not needed. With advances in cloning, stem cells, genetic engineering, etc…. anything can happen.
Well, I guess I can’t say anything but my opinion, but I know personally that if it weren’t for the men in my life, I would be happier. Sure, my Dad created me. But his parenting qualities leave something to be desired. If it weren’t for my uncle, I wouldn’t avoid going back to India because of the way I was abused when I was there last. If he didn’t ruin my life this way, I wouldn’t have been so messed up emotionally that I dumped my bf when I came back, whose loss I wouldn’t still be mourning. And I wouldnt be deeply scarred by the fact that the guy who he turned into makes my life hell, funny because he says nothing at all and has forgotten all the happiness we had, makes me so depressed by doing this. The guy I once thought was the best uncle in the world, made his fall from grace so unexpected that I just can still not believe it, and still dont trust any men at all. Never, in my entire life, have I had a man who I can look upto, who I can rely on, who loves me and will not hurt me. Not from my family, not from anywhere. But there are more likely women who I can. So yeah, you know what, I THANK GOD women exist. Because if it wasn’t for these women, I don’t know where I would be. The men to whom you credit existence are all emotionally challenged, self-absorbed morons who women DEFINETELY could do without. But then I guess you are right, women wouldnt exist without men - the men who ruin their lives by making them the unhappy, depressed, kicked around, disrespected people that they are - and you dare imply that we should THANK men. alright, I needed to vent. I guess there are women out there who are possibly happy with the men in their life and are hence luckier than i am. all i’m saying is that i will never credit the goodness of my life to any man, because none of the ones in my life are responsible for any glimmer of a decent life i may experience.

Although I agree you have a good point, I believe that women saying that men wouldn’t be here without them is usually a argument against their disrespect. Whenever I say that I mean it in the sense that any woman is just like the woman who gave you birth. Likely that woman is or will be someone else’s mother. How can some men be so disrespectful to who gave them life?

Some people are stupid, don’t let it worry you.
True the world would be a better place without SOME men and without SOME women, doesn’t mean we can do completely without one gender. I for one wouldn’t want that.
