IMDB rating: 6.10 Plot: In the years leading up to World War II, stunt pilot Cliff Secord takes a trial run in a Gee Bee racing aircraft to prepare for an upcoming air show. But he accidentally comes into possession of a rocket-propelled backpack much coveted by the Nazis. With the aid of his mechanic pal, he gets it up and running, then uses it to foil a plot by a gang of vicious Nazi spies led by Timothy Dalton. Jennifer Connelly is on hand as the love interest, but the real fun here is when the Rocketeer takes off. There’s also a nifty battle atop an airborne blimp to defeat his foes who are anxious to use the device in an evil plan to rule the world! The dangerous mission transforms the ordinary young man into an extraordinary hero. |

On the hunt for some good movies 80's-90's?
Hey, I’m on the hunt for some good 1980’s - 1990’s movies to watch. However, since, during that time, I was 10 and younger, there’s a lot I don’t know. So, any help here would be appreciated.
I’m looking for some comedy / action / adventure types.
(I detest tearjerkers and chick flicks with a passion. I’ll tolerate a bit of romance. And horrors are a big no-no.)
To give you an idea, here are some I’ve already seen and enjoy.
Overboard
Bird on a Wire
Die Hard 1 & 2 (though I EASILY could’ve lived without the excessive amount of blood, especially in the second one in the scene with the icicle. blech)
MacGyver (though I honestly enjoyed the TV series way more than the movies)
Lethal Weapon 1, 2, 3, 4 (another series where there was a bit too much blood for my taste, but, aside from that, I totally enjoyed watching)
Liar Lair
Speed (was I the only one who was rather let down by Speed 2?)
Tango & Cash
Air Force One (Not the best Harrison Ford movie, but still a good watch)
The Indiana Jones movies (now you know I had to say that ^_~)
Back to the Future
Independence Day
Jurassic Park
StarGate
Twister
The Rocketeer
Robin Hood : Prince of Theives
Young Guns
Con Air
Quigly down Under
Crocodile Dundee
Godzilla
The Fugitive
Grumpy Old Men
Grumpier Old Men
Young Frankenstein
I’ve never seen War of the Roses (by Danny DeVito) so any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
Hm… and that’s about it that I can think of that I know.
Well, I’ll hand it over to you guys now. And thanks for wanting to contribute! ^_^ It’s much appreciated!

War of the Roses is excellent…as it Tootsie.
Then you could try the Brat Pack films…The Breakfast Club, {Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, Rumblefish.
Slap-stick humor was big then…all the National Lampoon films, but especially those with Chevy Chase in them are great!! Blues Brothers also would suit you.
Funny Farm with Chevy Chase is also great…but really try to get the Vacation series with him…you will p**ss yourself!!
Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey are great comedies.
The Lost Boys….a teen Vampire flick.

Some of those I watched as a kid and may be dumb as an adult, but were pretty entertaining at the time.
